Good morning everyone and welcome to another challenge here at The Paper Shelter. Our challenge this week is “Love is in The Air”.

This will be my last challenge as a designer for The Paper Shelter. Even though I have enjoyed my time with the team, I felt it was time to take a break from it. Thanks so much to Veronica, Pedro, Shirley an Marie!

What I used on the card-

SU paper white and garden green
Spellbinder dies, Sizzix embossing folder, stickles, Copic markers, glue dots and dimensionals.

Too Many Digis????

Maybe……….oh heck….yes!!!!!!! I colored up this digi a while ago and do you think I can remember the company it came from??????? I give up looking for now.

I think I need to start marking each image when I print them off so I know where they come from.

When I came across this image today I knew what the card should look like before I started.

Hi!

Well it is another freezing day here is Saskatchewan, Canada! It is –33c with a wind chill of –44!!! Needless to say it is freeking cold!!!!!!!

Valentines day is less than a month away so I got my first card made.

What I used-

SU paper, white and real red.
SU ticket stamp set
SU ink, MS medallion punch, bakers cord, ribbon, pearls, SU embossing edge folder, glue dots and dimensionals.

Stampin’ Up Digi

Good morning to everyone out there!

It is a very cold day out here in central Canada! A balmy –34c and that is without the wind chill!!!!

I finally got my Stampin’Up order yesterday! I bought some edge dies and embossing folders so I had to play!

The image I used is digital from Stampin’Up. online.

Wedding Card

Hi everyone! Well, I have made a change. I will be doing “my own thing” after February the 4th. That will be my last challenge with The Paper Shelter. I will miss working as a designer I am sure but it will be nice to take a break from deadlines! LOL!

Today I made a Wedding card.

Hannah Likes to Craft!

Good morning!

Well here I am TRYING to make a card with a new image I got. I should have known I was in trouble as soon as Hannah came in the room………

The first place she (long story) plops is right smack dab on my work area!!! You try to color when her paws are always trying to help me!!!!

She has made me ruin so many images by “playing” with my pens while I am coloring!!!

BUT……..I still love you Hannah!

Hi everyone! It is a cold Monday morning here in central Canada….although it is warmer than what is coming!!!!

Last week a new set was released over at The Paper Shelter, called Vintage Christmas. This is an amazing set of images and sentiments! I think if you are someone who wants to make your Christmas cards but don’t want to spend a lot of money on all the “stuff” you think you need, then this is for you.

Here are 2 cards I made-

On this card I used ribbon and dimensionals. Now if you don’t have a Big Shot to cut the corner dies you could use pearls or rhinestones!

On this card I used ribbon, pearls, and stickles to add some glitter. Both cards have digital Christmas paper which can also be purchased at The Paper Shelter.

See how easy it can be without alot of supplies!

Christmas Sparkle- Red, Green and Gold

Hi everyone! It’s Wed. and you know what that means……another challenge at The Paper Shelter. The title tells you the theme!!
We had our first blizzard of the winter last week and the temps have been around –20c!! Way too cold for this old girl!!! If I didn’t have to work I would hibernate till spring!!!

Here is my card for this challenge.

In this close up you can see the puffed liquid appliqué.

Here you can see all the loops I made with the gold ribbon.

The image is called Getting Ready For Christmas
The digital paper is called Christmas Spirit
I colored the image with Copic markers. Outlined the image with a gold felt pen. I used SU scalloped border punch, Spellbinder oval die, gold ribbon, glue dots, gold beads, dimensionals and liquid appliqué for the fur.

WOW…is time ever moving fast!!! November tomorrow!! I figured I had better get busy and get working on some Christmas cards made.

Here are two I did last week.

The image for this one is from Bonibleaux Designs. I love this image!! LOL!

I used my mini bells I got from Stampin Up.

The second card is made with a free digital sentiment from the newest issue of Paper Crafts Magazine. The flower I made using a new flower punch from EK Success. Because if the depth of the flower this would not be a card you would want to mail!

Welcome Baby

This weekend I worked on this baby gift container to put a baby gift in for a friend of mine. She had a sweet little girl a few weeks ago.

Here are some pictures.

I used a coffee tin to make this and covered it with some dp by K&Company. I used a Spellbinder label die and put babies initials on it. I put ribbon bows below the handle on each side, added flowers and other trims. It was a lot of fun to make.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone! Hope you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Harry gave me a really big surprise on Friday when he came home with this beautiful arrangement of fall flowers!

Aren’t they pretty!

Then Saturday about lunch time out daughter, Holly, husband Brad and out two Grandkids Avery and Quinn arrived. The house went from very quiet to LOUD very fast!!! LOL!

Sunday my brother, Brian and his daughter Jen came to join the fun! We had our Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings !! Needless to say we were all stuffed and not moving very much!!!

There is nothing better than good food and good company to make a day very special!

The last of the family left today and now we are back to a very quiet house…….just Harry, myself and our two fur babies………….hmmmmm…………Christmas……………..

It Isn't Over Till The Fat lady Sings!

Since I was last on I have been to Minot and back!!!! I spent hours in their Hobby Lobby and thought wouldn't it be nice to be locked in for the night???????? And my answer was YES!!!!!!!

Made 3 trips there over the 2 days!!! Anyway we had a great time!

I have something new for you today. I had to make it as soon as I received the file from The Paper Shelter last week and have only had time now to post it!!

The kit is found under “printable” It is called Sweetest Girls

All I had to use on this project was double sided tape from SU, ribbon and stickles and a large rivet from SU.

I found out how to make time to make cards…….get a gimpy foot!!! Not the best way mind you…there was alot of pain but thanks goodness it feels much better today.

Stitch it Up at Sassycheryls!

That’s right……this weeks challenge is to do stitching either real or faux on your card.

Here is my card-

When it comes to stitching, I would rather do it by hand, then I know the line is straight. ( that’s my OCD kicking in!). I guess I really need to practice more with the sewing machine.

As an added touch I sewed love knots on each scallop on the top.

At first I thought I would use an image with Cheryl’s wonderful lady bugs on it…..but then I remembered the image I bought to make a card for my grandson’s first day of school.
I remember my first day of school…I DID NOT want to go!!!!!! My Mother chased me down the block with the wooden spoon…… what a sight that must have been!

I bought this bear image before I knew I would have a chance to be on the design team. I just think he is so cute!! The name of the digital image is Teddy Bear Picking Flowers.

SU paper, white, almost amethyst. The DP is from the digital paper pack from The Paper Shelter called Studies of a Witch.
Spellbinder dies, Copic Markers, MS Punch around set, EK leaf punch, Prisma flowers( I glued several together to make each flower be more full), glue dots, dimensionals and round corner punch.

What’s Your Fold?

Hi everyone! It’s August already?????? Where is time going?

We were on holidays for a week last week. We had our 2 grandkids here and we still managed to get the last of the painting (and other stuff) DONE!!!!!!!!! We are so happy to be at the end! It took a total of 3 weeks of working our butts off!!!!!

Hello everyone. It was another beautiful day here in central Canada. We had a high of 90! I didn’t do much outside till later today due to the heat but did manage to clean one garden shed. I haven’t been posting lots this last few weeks. My main concern right now is my challenge obligations…..here is why……….

As you know I lost my father last August. It was such a hard summer for my brother and I; our time was spent with Dad so everything on both our “to do” lists had to wait till this summer.

Here are some pictures that I took of some of the things my husband and I have done.

First off, I got all my flower beds edged. They were very neglected last year. This is just one of 4 beds and is also the smallest.

I got our deck finished. We went with a darker stain which is a nice change. You can barely see the old fashion screen door that I painted a plum color…..that’s right…I said plum!

There is the plum door! You can also see the color the deck used to be in this shot.

We also had out garage resided! And guess what?……..another plum door!!

Last year I was hardly in my garden. I would come home from the city and my husband would have things picked for me. This year I have been even enjoyed the weeding!!!

Last but not least here is the flower bed that is on the left side of the garden pictured above.

Well it is just about time for bed. I hope I haven’t bored you with all this. I just wanted to fill you in on what I have been doing.

I am just very thrilled to be just about done our list.

Lungs 4 Life Fundraiser!

The LUNGS 4 LIFE fundraiser is now in FULL swing! Sassy Cheryl's along with some amazingly generous artists and incredibly GENEROUS contributors for taking this opportunity to help raise funds for Tripp Oldham, a 19 year old boy suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.

Tripp will need a double lung transplant in the next 2 years and his family is in need of raising money in order for this to happen.

All donations from this fundraiser will go directly to the LUNGS 4 LIFE charity fund.

We hope too, that you will save the Loves Healing Hands/Lungs 4 Life logo, located in the right-hand column, and post on your blog or website to help spread the word.

The Fundraiser will run through August 14th. with the winners being announced

the following Sunday, August 21st.

Happy Father’s Day…..The “Kiss” Method

Hi Everyone!

I have been very busy here refinishing my kitchen cabinets in between working and taking care of the yard. To say I am tired is an understatement but it will be wonderful when I can tick that project off my list of things to do!

I really needed to play so made this card using my motto “Kiss”……keep it simple stupid! LOL!

It doesn't show up well but the yellow parts of the butterfly’s wings have glitter on them. Here is a side view to show I layered the wings.

Good morning everyone! The weeks are flying by way to fast for me…seems like I just did a post LOL!
This week we have been asked to make a card with the image on kraft paper. When I printed mine, my first thought was will my Copics work on this…..the answer was no…….so I pulled out my Prisma color pencils and they worked perfect. It has been awhile since I used them!

ROFL……I always have trouble making “man” cards. When I saw the “Gus” digital images at Bugaboo I knew these would make great man cards!

I think my Dad would have gotten a kick out of this one! I finally got my Bakers cord I bought on EBay……They didn’t know what I was talking about at Michaels!!! Now I have 8 colors!!! How something so simple can make me happy! (Although I would be extremely happy with an IPad!!!) LOL!

In The Garden

Hi!

Hope everyone is doing fine!

I am very happy to report I finished washing walls on the main floor today. I will be heading downstairs next week to start washing down there.

If it ever warms up I will be ready to start painting!!!!

I did find the time today to make a card. I work very hard for craft breaks…ROFL!!! Anyway here is a card I made using an image from a set called “ In The Garden” from Clip Art Fairy.

Challenge Day at Sassycheryls!

Hi everyone……I”M BACK IN MY CRAFT ROOM!!!!!!!!! Yipppeeee!!!! But if you had been here last week you would have had a good chuckle!
I was sooooo needing to make a card during the floor reno. It was crazy. I went to my craft room to see if there was something to at least color ( all my paper and embellishments were stacked in the basement). Well I saw that our challenge this week is to make a card having to do with nature. So I colored a new image then figured how hard could it be to find what I need downstairs right? WRONG!!!!!!! I had to crawl over stuff to find the right carts with what I needed and it took many trips. Finally I descided to keep the card simple because I could not locate what I wanted.

I’m Back in My Craft Room!!!

New Floors Day 3

The front room and hallway is done! I just love it! It feels so clean already and I haven’t washed walls yet!!!!

Here are two pictures of the room. I haven’t brought up all the little things yet. I just might wait till I get the walls washed. I should take a picture of all the stuff in the basement waiting to come up!!!!! A person has too much stuff!!!!!!!!

New Flooring- Day 2

Well another day and one more step closer to the end!

Today the lino went in to the kitchen, bathroom and back entry. All that is left to do is some caulking and the toe kicks in the kitchen and bathroom. Tomorrow they will be starting the wood floors!!!

I will sure be glad when I get the bottom cabinets done!!!!!

There is all the flooring going into the rest of the house!

Last but very important…..the “THRONE” room!

New Floors Day 1

Well today starts the installation of my new floors that I have been dreaming off for the last 3 years!

Today the sub floor was installed in the kitchen, back entry and bathroom. The lino is here and is warming up ( it is –29 today!). It will be installed tomorrow.

Here is a picture.

Now to explain something……I am kind of working in the wrong order but it can’t be helped. LOL! I will be sanding and refinishing the bottom cabinets to match the uppers. I tried the idea of having the upper cabinets a different color from the bottoms (I watch too many decorating shows!!). I have lived with it for 2 years and have never been happy with it so I am going to have all white!!!

I also pulled out the railing that divided the dinning area from the front room one day when Harry was at work. You can see the patching on the end of the wall in the center. Needless to say he was “very” surprised when he got home.LOL!

Well here I sit…..starting to get the shakes, sweating, and out of sorts!!! Could this be with drawl?????? From what you might ask???????

I CAN’T DO ANY CARDS!!!!!!!!!!! That’s right….my craft room is torn apart!!!!!! That’s not all…..the whole house looks like this!!!! On Monday the guys are coming to install all new flooring in our house!! I will be so glad when this is all done!!!!!! We have been living in a mess for the last month getting ready for this!!!!

From Rags to Roses…….

Good morning everyone! As you are reading this I am at work. Yep…..seems like I just can’t stay home if I want to buy all that fun crafty stuff!!!!!! LOL!

On one of my days off I made drapes for the dinning room. While cleaning up the scraps I had a thought…….could I make rolled roses with the scraps????? So I tried and I did!!

Here is my card-

For my flowers, I ripped the white cotton in about one inch strips. I punched a 1 1/2 inch circle. I used tacky glue on the circle and started from the center twisting the cotton strip as I went. When I got to the end I simply tucked under the roll. I finished it off with a pearl in the center! I wrapped a piece of my cotton around the card and then mounted the flowers on top with glue dots.

A Birthday Wish

Happy Sunday everyone! It is another COLD day here in the prairies!!!!! Once again I will be hibernating till I have to work on Wed.! LOL! Boy will I be glad when spring comes!!!!!

I am not sure what is going on with me but I have been in a real slump since Christmas….my creative juices have not been flowing as they usually are…….It has been taking alot of effort to come up with ideas……. I am hoping this slump ends soon!

Sassycheryls Recycle Challenge

Hi everyone! Well we have had wonderful mild temperatures here in Saskatchewan Canada! I am so looking forward to spring!!!!

Spring for me means washing walls and giving our home a good going over as far as things we either don’t need or don’t want anymore. That means packing those things up and donating to different charities.

Our challenge today is along the same theme….recycle. I got looking around and found some zippers left over from my sewing days and that’s what I used on my card. I made the card clean and simple to show off the zipper……what do you think?

Hi everyone! It is a day off for me and am I ever glad about that!! The temp has dropped and the wind chill here is –40C!!!!! I don’t intend on coming out of hibernation till Saturday morning when I have to go to work!!!!

I made this card today. One more for my Valentine collection.

The letters are digital and I got them from Tiffany Doodles. I cut mine apart so I could mount them on my shape.

the paper is SU red rose and white. The dp. is K&Company.
flower made by layering three sizes of Prisma flowers, shapes behind each letter is a MS punch, Spellbinder die, CB embossing folder, EK leaf punch, glitter brads and Copic markers.

My First Valentines Card

Hi everyone! I imagine a lot of you are getting ready for a night out to welcome in the New Year but I’m not. I have to work the weekend so it is early to bed for me.

Today I declared to be PJ day! I have done nothing..but read, play Scrabble on Face book and make this card! I have not had a day like this for a few weeks so it felt wonderful!

This is my first Valentines card; I used an image from Karen's Doodles.

I just think this image is so cute!

Hi everyone. Here it is, 4 more sleeps till Santa comes!!!!! More important, just 3 more sleeps till my Grand kids get here. They are so excited. It will be nice to have them here to take my mind off of being sad with not having Dad with us. I have his combat boots by the fire place with a Santa hat on them so in a way he is here in Spirit.

Time to get on to my card. When I first saw this image at Squigglefly it tickled my funny bone. When I got it colored the caption to use with it just popped out of my head. LOL!
